In last week’s passage, John ended his thoughts on practicing righteousness by noting that those who do practice righteousness love their brother.  Now, he is expanding on what it means to love your brother.  And, really, John gives us some important tips on how we are called to love; specifically, he tells us we are called to love everyone, we are called to love in action not just in word, and that our love must flow from our obedience to God and the Spirit that dwells within us.
