In 1 John 1, John talked about living for Jesus by remembering we have the Word of Life in our hearts and by walking in the light; and, we see here at the beginning of chapter 2 an expansion on that topic as living for Jesus and following Jesus are two sides of the same coin: we can’t live for Jesus without following Him and we can’t follow Jesus without living for Him; they go hand in hand. So, John teaches is that, if we are truly going to follow our Leader, Jesus, we must walk in the way that He walked keeping His commandments, we must love others, and we must hold fast to what we know to be True.
