Micah 1:8-16 "A Prophet's Lament" Rev. Keith Reid

Have any of you ever felt like nothing is going right in your life? Have you ever felt like, no matter what you do, there never seems to be any relief from the stress, worry, or discouragement that hounds you? Have you ever felt like the whole world is spinning out of control and going crazy? Have you ever felt desperate, isolated, and scared? If so, you are certainly not alone; people have been feeling this way since the moment Adam and Eve first took a bite of the forbidden fruit. In fact, we see the prophet Micah experiencing some of these very same emotions in our passage today. In the previous verses, Micah was given a prophetic vision by God of the coming judgment on Israel and Judah, the punishment they will receive for their rebellion. And, it’s these images of judgment and punishment that lead Micah into a lament in these verses. So, let’s take a look at the prophet’s lament and then think about what it means for us.
