Ephesians 5:15-20 "Living Wisely" Rev. Keith Reid
This week, we continue our series in Ephesians and Paul's command to live wisely. This means we are to live as Jesus has called and commanded us to live rather than living in the sinfulness that plagues our fallen world. But Paul doesn't stop at telling us that we need to live wisely; he goes on to tell us HOW we are to live wisely. He doesn’t simply stop at a command, he follows that up with practical advice on what we should do in order to follow that command. Again, Paul doesn’t give an exhaustive list of all of the ways that we are to live wisely; but, if we do the three things he highlights here, wise and Godly living in all aspects of our lives will flow from them. Namely, Paul shows us in that passage that, if we want to live wisely rather than unwisely, we must make the most of every opportunity, we must exercise self-control, we must be filled with the Spirit.
